COVID-19 Resilience Measures (Update 07:00 17th March)

As you are aware, the outbreak of COVID-19 is being transmitted throughout our communities and yesterday, we implemented our Practice Resilience Plan. Clearly this is a very worrying time for all families and we doing everything we can to protect both our patients and our staff. This situation is unprecedented, but in line with our plan, and to reduce the footfall in the practice, we have taken the following measures:

  • All telephone appointment requests will be triaged by a doctor or advanced nurse, so once you have called in, they will call you back to assess your symptoms, arrange an appointment where indicated, or give you advice over the phone.
  • If you are given an appointment, you will be allocated a time and the clinician will meet you at the front door, therefore please ensure you are on time. If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel, let us know ASAP.
  • We are not accepting walk-in appointment requests; the practice doors remain locked and access, as above, is by appointment only.
  • Repeat Prescription slips can be deposited in the mail box outside the practice, alternatively you can email this to us on monifiethprescriptions.tayside@nhs.net; during the current situation, we will also accept these over the phone (01382 534301).
  • Prescriptions can be collected from the practice between the hours of 1700-1800 each working day. We can also send your prescriptions to a community pharmacy of your choice for collection there.
  • Letters and correspondence can be deposited in the mail box outside the practice
  • If you need to hand in a sample to the practice, please ring the bell at the front door and a member of staff will collect this from you. Please note this bell is for the Postal Service, general NHS deliveries and sample collection. It is not for general enquiries.
  • We are continuing with some nurse clinics. However, if you have booked to see the nurse, you will receive a call and the nurse will discuss whether you still need to attend.

General COVID-19 Information

If you have developed a cough or fever at or above 37.8 deg C in the last 7 days, stay at home and self-isolate, following current guidelines. The practice will not routinely test for coronavirus, even if you have symptoms. Only contact the practice doctors or NHS24 on 111 if your symptoms are severe. The surgery lines will open as usual at 8am each day.

We are working hard to protect you all during this difficult time. Your help in limiting contact to only urgent enquiries is greatly appreciated. We trust you all stay safe and well. Please share this as widely as possible.

Note we have a new Monifieth Medical Practice Facebook page where we will post regular updates.

About Us

The practice is proud to have provided personal medical care to the majority of the residents of Monifieth since the 1960s.  We are located half way up Victoria Street, in the grounds of Ashludie Hospital and on a public transport route.   The practice is fully adapted for disabled access.

There are four full time doctors and three half time doctors in the partnership and a full complement of nursing and administration staff.

Our aim is to provide a range of high quality, patient-centric, primary health care services delivered by committed and well-trained staff.

Charter

We work as an integrated team to provide a high level of effective and appropriate care, in partnership with our community. We aim to combine evidence based holistic care to a high standard that we will audit for quality. We will act as our patients advocates beyond the practice and strive to provide a caring and friendly environment that meets current and future needs. We will develop the internal and external systems required to deliver these objectives.

Opening Hours

The Surgery is open from 8am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and our friendly receptionists are there to assist you.

The practice is closed between 1pm and 2pm to facilitate administration work.

We also provide an extended hours service on Tuesday mornings 07.30am to 08.00am to cater for those patients who find it difficult to attend the practice during normal surgery hours.
